The recent RVDA convention in Las Vegas, had lots of dealer products and services on display, along with many dealer seminars to go to. Although, the convention was smaller this year, when compared to the past years. I believe a lot of RV dealers were making the most of their money while at the convention. The workshops were full for the most part and the dealers were taking time to review products and services available. This is a good sign, and the reason I say this is because, when the dealers are focused on getting the best products and services for their dealership. Then they truly must believe the economy is bouncing back. The main thing that seemed to be on every bodies mind was, marketing and internet. What I mean by internet is, web design, data management, marketing and client retention. Most RV dealers have not been as up to date as the auto industry. The car business uses the internet to it's advantage with extreme intent. RV dealers are catching on and realizing the importance of internet presence. With out internet some business wouldn't be able to simply exist. The internet allows dealers to reach out of their local market and sell to any one around the nation or world for that matter. The RV dealers that believe in only their local market would be surprised to find out that, their local residents are searching and willing to buy across country for the right deal. I say if your not on the web, then why even open your doors. To only count on the people who walk in the front doors is crazy and business suicide. Today's consumers are doing more research online andeducating themselves to the point that, they can tell the dealer / salesperson more about their product, then they can tell the consumer. I will be buying my next vehicle through the internet because, why buy from my local dealer if the guy across the nation, one state over, or a two city drive will beat him. Also, RV dealers need to be more descriptive of their inventory online. It is one thing to put up some pictures and it's another to actually give the details along with the photo's. With the California RVIA show getting under way, hopefully RV dealers will be getting lots of deals and consumers will be out helping stimulate the economy. |
